Caoyang New Village, China's first housing project for factory workers, has hosted hundreds of thousands of foreign visitors including former US President Jimmy Carter in 1981. It continues to welcome tourists from around the world today. The renovated neighborhood offers a "citywalk" program that provides a one-day glimpse into the lives of Shanghai's residents.

曹杨新村是新中国成立后建设的第一个工人新村，位于上海市普陀区，始建于1951年。1953年，曹杨新村街道成为国家首批外事接待单位，曾接待过包括美国前总统吉米·卡特在内的数十万境外友人。如今，这里依然有来自世界各地的游客。“做一天上海人”，体验本地居民的日常生活也成为曹杨新村的招牌体验活动。
